So why are you so upset??

I had my 32 week OB appointment today. Everything went really well and fairly quickly! I had a growth scan due to my mutated body prothrombin thingy. Aedan is measuring in the 81st percentile and weighs approximately 5lb 7oz. Holy big baby! His fluid is also measuring right at the top of the scale for being OK. The not-so-great news is that he seems to be retaining fluid in his right kidney. It's nothing serious at this point, and probably will never be anything serious, but MFM doc wants to keep an eye on it. It's not as serious as hydronephrosis, but I can't remember what exactly he called it (It's called mild pyelectasis. Thank you Stacie!). He said it's very common in boys and they usually outgrow it as infants. It has something to do with the way their urethra is kinked due to having a penis and due to the kidney being immature. He's 1/10th a centimeter on the bad side of the measurement they took.

I'm honestly not worried about his kidney or fluid or anything else. I am pretty upset, though. HE'S NOT GOING TO FIT IN ALL HIS CUTE LITTLE NEWBORN THINGS I'VE MADE AND HAD MADE FOR HIM!!!! I know. Woe is me. I find it so ironic that I had almost no newborn size clothing for Jack & Trip (I swear I just didn't know there was a difference between 0-3 months & newborn) and their clothes were swimming on them. Now I have all sorts of newborn items, and it looks like I'm going to have a 0-3 month sized kid. I'm not really upset. I have time to order him a new onesie to wear home, but with the swelling starting, I won't be able to make him a new sweater. :( Oh well. I'm just happy he's doing so well!

And for the billion and ten people that feel the need to tell me I'm huge and joke about carrying more than one and ask if I'm due any day...HE'S A BIG BABY SO STFU! NO ONE enjoys being told they're huge.

So who'd like to see pictures of the chunky monkey? I swear you could see how chubby his cheeks were in the 2D shots, even!

Chubby Cheeks
That's his foot flat on his forehead

I promise I still have another post or two coming. I haven't forgotten about them!

Appointment Update and Schedules

In bullets because I'm that tired right now.  :-)

  •  I seriously love my midwife.  I think she could tell me that I'm going to have to inject myself every day for six weeks and I'd still be happy and smiling.  Wait...she did tell me that and I did remain happy and smiling.  More on that in a second, though.  I just want the world to know that this woman rocks and makes almost every single visit a pleasure!

  • My cervix is softening.  I'm a fingertip dilated on the outside, but still 1.5 cm long.  She said she couldn't tell about the inside because someone had a butt planted down there (Baby A).

  • I'm scheduled for the first procedure of the morning for December 11.  I can't believe how excited I am to having something on the schedule!  This is, of course, just a back-up plan in case the boys don't decide to come before then.  I'll be honest and say that I'd like to naturally go into labor anytime before then (even right before would be OK).  I'd just like my body to be aware that it's about to lose its occupants before they're ripped out.  I know that a C-section will be a necessity with them both being breech, and I'm really OK with that now.

  • It is documented in my file that I have the Prothrombin Factor II gene mutation, so they want me to do Lovenox injections for 6 weeks after my C-section.  This is a precautionary measure because I don't have a history of blood clots.  But of course my Dad didn't have a history when he had his appendectomy, and that didn't stop him from throwing multiple blood clots to both lungs afterwards (hell of a way to find out you have a gene mutation).

  • The nurse working with me and the boys from my NST this morning stated that breech babies were usually much easier to monitor.  I think she jinxed herself!  She spent almost an hour sitting right beside me moving, twisting, and pushing on the monitor for Baby B.  He's a sensitive little guy, and does not like to be touched.  She commented on how she could actually feel him pushing the monitor away  (not kicking, but pushing).  Over the hour period she managed to get a cumulative 10 minutes of baseline monitoring for him and quite a few accelerations.  Baby A, on the other hand, stayed put and did exactly what he was supposed to.  This is such a change from how they normally are (We barely have any good u/s shots of Baby A due to the fact that he is so uncooperative).

  • I can only imagine what babies are thinking when they stick the little vibrator thingy against them to wake them up.  "What the hell?!?!  What was that for?!?!"  Baby A had apparently gone to sleep and she wanted one more acceleration, and needed a few more for Baby B, so she stuck the vibrator thingy by him.  He immediately jerked and had an acceleration.  Poor kid.  Ha-ha!

  • I finally felt (and knew what I was feeling) one of the little guys have the hiccups.  I don't feel Baby A as much as Baby B due to his positioning, but today the nurse pointed out that he had the hiccups.  I could hear the static on the machine every time he hiccuped then realized I was feeling a little tap in my lower abdomen at the same time.  It made me smile.  :-)

  • Today was a very wonderful appointment.  My questions were answered.  I didn't feel rushed through like a head of cattle.  I have a date on the calendar.  I am a very happy camper right now!

 **************************

I really want to start a few posts on things that I am blessed with.  I read a post the other day and it's had me thinking since then.  I am very blessed, and not just with this pregnancy, but with so much more.  It's about time I acknowledge this.  Heads up for sappy posts about the things in my life I'm thankful for (besides my new bottle of Tums)!

I hate thinking of titles.

Today is CD14 and my cbefm is still showing high, as it has since CD9.  But no O, yet.  Don't worry, though.  I haven't come close to giving up hope.  O is usually CD17.

Let me just say I'm not a big fan of Clomid, though.  This may be situational, but I've been irritable and depressed since a couple of days after starting the damn drug.  Of course my brother broke his leg and had to have surgery (he's doing wonderful, thank you to everyone!), my sister's father-in-law had a heart attack days later and had to have a bypass, my dryer broke, and my brother's wife had to go to the emergency room and got diagnosed with a hiatal hernia and doesn't quite know what to do since they have no insurance.  I think I'm a little tired of reality right now.  But I bought a book and plan on vegging out this weekend and hiding from reality for a little bit.  At least we found out that my brother only has 1 gene for Factor V Leiden mutation.  But I'm not sure of that because I got that news straight from my brother...he doesn't listen, was in pain when it was explained to him, and was heavily drugged by the time he explained it to me.  ***edited*** I spoke with my Dad and apparently my brother has Factor V Leiden Mutation Heterozygous (one gene).

Speaking of blood disorders...does anyone know anything about Factor II Prothrombin (also called Prothrombin 20210A or PT20210 Mutation or Factor II Mutation)?  Or Factor V Leiden?  Those are the blood disorders that seem to run rampant in my family.  Factor II almost killed my dad a few years back.  My cousin lost a twin pregnancy due to Factor V.  A combination of one of these caused my Uncle to lose fingers.  I know the basics about them, but not how serious they are in pregnancy.  I don't know how to get tested for them.  I asked my primary care physician to order a test for them a year ago, but he had never heard of the Factor II and didn't quite know how to write the order.  And apparently I wasn't actually tested for it since all they did was a clotting test.  From all the googling I've done today it seems that it can only truly be determined if you have it by doing a genetic test.  What would you guys do?

But at least it's Friday!  And almost time to go home!  Hooray!

And if you haven't checked this out...now's as good a time as any:
