2 months already?

The boys had their 2-month well baby appointment. Everything went OK. Not beautifully, but OK. They both got all but one of the vaccines (that one is on backorder) and seem to be doing fine, now.

Jack was all smiles for the appointment. The doctor seemed to enjoy holding him and said he looked beautiful!

Trip wasn’t too happy being examined, but didn’t fuss too much. Due to his sensitive skin he’s got a little bit of a rash on his neck and face and the beginning of diaper rash in the crease of his legs. I really don’t believe that the redness in the crease of his legs is diaper rash since he’s had it for so long. I’m of the opinion that it’s merely his sensitive skin reacting to the fact that there’s a diaper pressing into it there – kind of like when your waist band leaves a red mark on your skin. I’m supposed to use “moisturizer” on both of these issues, though.

Trip also possibly has thrush. I figured the doctor would swab his tongue and look at it under a microscope or something, but he didn’t. Due to a coating (which he’s had for 2 months, now) and the fact that he fights after he’s had two ounces of his bottle, he’s on medicine. We’re also supposed to give the medicine to Jack just in case. Hopefully this will help Trip's recent eating issues and he’ll begin to put on more weight!

Trip also has hydrocele. It’s not a big deal, but they do have to keep an eye on it (especially since it didn’t seem to be there at all of his previous appointments). We’re waiting on a referral to a pediatric urologist. Typically with infants it resolves itself within the first year.

Here are their stats*:

At 2 months:
Trip is 10.4 pounds (4.7 kilograms), and that is
at the 9th percentile for weight.

Trip is 22.25 inches, and that is
at the 9th percentile for height.

Trip has a head circumference of 16 inches, and that is
at the 49th percentile for head circumference

At 2 months:
Jack is 11.4 pounds (5.2 kilograms), and that is
at the 24th percentile for weight.

Jack is 22.75 inches, and that is
at the 22th percentile for height.

Jack has a head circumference of 16 inches, and that is
at the 49th percentile for head circumference.

Check them out this morning before their appointment on their play mat!

*I got this using a calculator on this website.  The doctor failed to tell me what percentiles they were in and I failed to ask.  I re-checked the weight/heights from their last appointment and the boys were in lower percentiles than what the doctor told me.  Since the "doctor" is actually someone in the military that isn't an MD and just looks at a graph...I'm going to agree with the website.  I even checked a couple other websites and they agree with the first, not the doctor.

I saw this on a couple of other blogs.  Very much worth repeating.  Check it out if you haven't, yet!
